England Coast Path: Amble to Redcar-day five

Guys we made it to Hartlepool and day 5 is complete!!

Over 5 days now she has walked over 89 miles and 273,603 Alba steps.

Starting at 4am we headed off from our awesome accommodation in Seaham and made our way along the coast. It was muddy, super dark, isolated and tricky. We came across steep muddy steps and a viaduct to navigate. A cow took a nap with some sheep and after around 4 miles we decided to go grab some water so headed into Washington where we followed the coastal road to Blackhall.

We then headed to Crimdon Beach which we followed all the way to Hartlepool, collecting lots of sea glass and getting soaked by the rain...thank goodness for waterproofs!

Tonight as you'll have seen we are staying on an epic boat .Such an experience!

Tomorrow we head to Middlesbrough via Seaton Carew. We've been recommended The Almighty Cod Fish & Chip Shop so I think we'll grab our lunch from them and I've just spotted Gelato jojo and Hungry Seagull looks like we've a great morning planned as we plod on! We have a reporter joining us before we set off from BBC radio Tees and we'll be chatting live with them..so exciting. As I mentioned before Alba wants to catch ferries where possible and stick to the coast so tomorrow after completing the coastal section to Seaton Carew we'll catch the train to Middlesbrough to dump our bags then return to the route to walk the Middlesbrough section avoiding the industrial/chemical plant section.

She's walked her socks off and is now so close!! We've a little surprise planned which Alba has no clue about. She thinks we're catching the trains home Sunday but her Ma Ma is driving to Redcar and surprising her on Saturday. We'll spend Sunday in Whitby getting treats, bath bombs and lots of food and ice cream.
