England Coast Path: Amble to Redcar-Travel day

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

Saturday 21st January Alba accompanied by me (aka mum..aka Sophie) spent the morning on several trains making our way from Pontefract all the way to Amble where Alba's first epic multi day hike of 2023 was to begin!

This was a travel day as it took us nearly 5 hours to get there and we wanted to explore and enjoy Amble before we headed off along the coast. We were SO lucky to be gifted a free night stay at Wellwood Arms and arrived to a warm welcome and a fab room with a comfy double bed! Alba loved the lights outside too.

Our trains were delayed, cancelled and platforms changed all over the stations. 3 trains,4 stations and a bus!

We caught the bus from Alnmouth to Amble. I'd reached out to Arriva North East and when we got on the bus we were told by the bus driver his manager said no charge. Amazing! But when we arrived in York we were met by so many people coming to chat and add money into the pot including a little boy. Arriving in Newcastle a whole family in Costa gave their little boy money to add into the pot too. In Amble and we get more and more donations! We got spotted and had our photo taken and donations too. All this in the space of a few hours. Incredible!!

We've explored the beautiful Amble. Visited Lilly's Landing for our lunch and Spurreli Boutique Icecream for ice cream. Walked along the beach and Alba found her first shell.

What an epic place Amble is! We can't wait to return in just a few weeks time and this time head north to the England/Scotland border.
